KELLIE M. MURPHY

Kellie M. Murphy received her B.A. from the University of Dayton in 1994. She is a cum laude graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, where she received her J.D. in 1996.  Kellie joined our firm following graduation from law school and became a Shareholder in 2003.

 

Kellie has significant experience representing public entities, including Joint Powers Authorities, community college and school districts.   She represents both public and private sector entities in matters before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts throughout California, focusing on employment law, education law, civil rights and disability access, and general civil defense litigation including products liability, medical malpractice, and complex personal injury litigation.  She also has extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of insurance coverage and bad faith, and intellectual property.

 

In addition to her litigation experience, Kellie advises Joint Powers Authorities, school and community college districts on a wide variety of issues as general counsel, including labor, employment, and personnel matters, student discipline, investigations, contracts, the Brown Act, and the Public Records Act.

 

Kellie has lectured extensively on employment and personnel issues, insurance coverage, and civil litigation, for clients as well as other attorneys.  She also conducts investigations for public and private entities, including those involving sexual harassment and discrimination.

 

Kellie is admitted to the State Bar of California, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  She is a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association, the California Council of School Attorneys, and the Association of Workplace Investigators.
